//How the voting all works for the MTV Europe Music
.
This year’s EMAs gives the power to you the viewers so the main 8 categories: Rock Out, Ultimate Urban, Band, Most Addictive Track, Headliner, Solo, Inter Act and the Best Regional Act for each Broadcast region, are all decided by your votes – which are free – and cast on either the website, www.mtvema.com or the WAPsite wap.mtvema.com. You can cast up to 10 votes for any act per category each day. You can vote for as many different acts as you like. We will total all the votes and the winners calculated from midnight (GMT) October 29th and all the winners will be announce on the live show Nov 1. There’s no cost for any of these votes and MTV makes no money from votes cast on either the website or WAPsite.
The best Regional Act (UK & Ireland, France, Germany etc) is also being promoted in your country via SMS with regular promotional spots on most of MTV’s channels. If you want to support your favourite local act by voting using SMS just use the keywords shown on the TV promotion. The costs are standard for your region and please make sure you ask the bill-payer. These votes will be added to the votes from the web and WAPsite and again the closing date is midnight (GMT) October 29th … so please don’t vote after that date as you may still be charged. For all full Terms and Conditions on SMS voting please visit www.mtvema.com/sms
New Sounds of Europe
This is a new category for 2007 and brought to the EMAs in partnership with Sony Ericsson to help break one of Europe’s hottest new sounds to a wider audience.
Each region started off with several bands and you the viewers voted to select a local winner through voting on the web and WAPsites. After October 14th our 18 regional finalists went head to head and every day - at 9am (GMT) - say goodbye to the act with the least number of votes. To allow us to properly calculate the losing artist, and not let you vote on something that has already been decided, we close the voting until 12 noon (GMT) then start again for the next round.
Once again you can vote for any one artist in the New Sounds of Europe finals up to 10 times per day on both the website and WAPsite.
As each artist is representing its country or region we’ve had the clever types in the basement at MTV towers work out a smart formula that takes into account the size of each country’s population when we count all the votes. This means that smaller countries like Finland or Estonia can take on the bigger countries on a level playing field.
The final 3 bands will be decided by 9am (GMT) October 29th. The new poll with the final 3 acts will open again at 12 noon (GMT) and from then you are voting to see which act you want to win and play live to close the live show on Nov 1.
During the live show you can also vote for the act you want to win by SMS. The option to vote for your favourite act will again be at a standard local cost for your region and the full Terms and Conditions are at www.mtvema.com/sms.
The last point to vote will be made clear on screen but please don’t vote after 21.48 (CET) if you are outside the UK and 22.48 (GMT) if you are in the UK as you could still be charged.
